Southern Voice has launched the second part of its initiative “Rethinking Development Effectiveness”. This programme seeks to present a new approach to development cooperation, focused on the perspectives of recipient countries. The research gains all the more importance in light of the current pandemic, as new cooperation mechanisms in response to the health crisis emerge.

In the words of our Chair, Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya: "In the post-COVID-19 world, a ‘new conversation’ for a ‘new game, with new rules’ concerning development cooperation and its effectiveness will gather momentum. It will be all the more necessary to build the dialogue from the bottom up, based on new evidence and analysis."

In this edition, we share papers that explore the evolving landscape of development finance flows. We also look at the political economy of Development Effectiveness, including two country case studies (Uganda and Bolivia). And finally, a synthesis on what to do next to strengthen the framework of development effectiveness.
