The South-South Global Thinkers Initiative is a Global Coalition of Think Tank Networks for South-South Cooperation (SSC), involving over 200 think tanks from the developing and developed countries. This is an initiative facilitated jointly by UNDP and UN Office for SSC, in order to strengthen capacities of think tanks from the South, to advance research, advocacy and policy dialogues on SSC for the Sustainable Development agenda.
During the event, UNDP signed a Partnership Agreement with Beijing Yingke Law Firm, the biggest owner-operated law firm in Asia Pacific area and a partner of the SSC Global Thinkers initiative, to jointly support the establishment of the coalition and to bring special attention to the legal issues around SSC.
A workshop followed the signing ceremony and marked the launching of the second pillar of the the South-South Cooperation Global Thinkers Initiative on policy and legal environment for South-South Cooperation. Participants discussed on-the-ground challenges in building an enabling legal environment for SSC, including perspectives from government, private sector, and triangular cooperation partners.
